In 2000, we opened a brand new, £1.5m, 20,000 sq.ft. purpose-designed factory in Blackburn, Lancashire, with the specific aim of developing our market coverage in north and central England as well as Scotland. And with over 1,100 bodies delivered in its first two years, what a success it has been!

From day one, the Blackburn facility has been producing bodies for customers ranging from North East to South Wales and from the Scottish highlands to Birmingham. Already we are reaching production levels we scarcely thought possible, meeting the needs of a particularly high number of tipper businesses in Lancashire, Manchester and West Yorkshire.

So just why has our Blackburn facility proved so popular?
For a start, it's all-new.
A clean, modern, highly efficient assembly plant that's a showcase not just for Thompsons, but the whole tipper bodybuilding industry.
Spacious and easy to get to from the motorway, our Blackburn site is the polar opposite of the more usual scruffy, back street bodybuilder.
In addition, Blackburn benefits from a full complement of the latest machine tools, so the quality of the finished product is assured. This is an efficient plant too, which helps us to reduce lead times and speed delivery.

We also designed Blackburn to be a totally modern, full-service facility, too.
Have your chassis delivered here, and we'll look after it as if it was our own, with parking on level concrete outside our offices and protected by full 24hr CCTV security. We'll not only custom-build your body to exactly specification you require, but also fit any ancillary equipment that's needed as well. And when everything's finished, we can paint your body in-house too; to our own exacting, Thompsons standards.
