Already the clear UK market leader in tipper bodybuilding, Thompsons has just begun the construction of its fourth factory.
Located adjacent to its existing production facility in Blackburn, Lancashire, the new 'Blackburn 2' will be some 50% larger, with a capacity to handle some 100 trucks on site at any one time.
When fully up and running, the company's two Blackburn factories will have a greater production capacity than at Thompsons headquarters in Croydon, thereby making Blackburn the No.1 tipper body producing town anywhere in the UK.
"The new factory simply reflects the constantly rising demand for Thompsons bodies" says Group Sales Director Scott Burton. "From the day we opened the first Blackburn factory in 2000, we've just run flat out. More than ever, Thompsons is now a truly national bodybuilder, with a full range of products catering for just about every operating requirement."
Representing an investment of over £1.2m, Thompsons new Blackburn facility will feature the latest high technology production systems, whilst also creating between 30 and 40 new jobs in the local area.
Thompsons 'Blackburn 2' facility is expected to be fully operational by January 2007. |
